He has directed, built, designed, and owned over twenty venues, from the legendary Roxy, Limelight,Tunnel and Avalon in NYC to Avalon and Spider Club in Hollywood and Singapore. Education Adelman received a B.A. in Economics from Kalamazoo College in Michigan. He moved to Boston in 1984 for graduate work at Boston College earning a Master’s Degree in Economics. Soon after beginning his doctoral dissertation, he worked as a consultant for Boston’s prestigious Charles River Associates. Career Overview Adelman moved to New York City in 1990 to open the Roxy, serving as its Director. The groundbreaking project soon gained a reputation as the City’s top club, putting Adelman on the national map. Only two years later, he was tabbed, as a Director of the Limelight, and within three years had become a Director for NYC’s largest venues, including the Tunnel and Palladium. In 1997, Adelman returned to Boston to launch Avalon on Lansdowne Street, which became an instant national success. Over the next four years Adelman led a team to redevelop the famed street with the renovation of Axis, Karma and Bills Bar, along with the addition of The Modern, and Embassy. It was here that Adelman becomes known as a groundbreaker for EDM in the US with the weekly event Avaland playing host to the likes of Sasha, John Digweed, Carl Cox, Boy George, Paul VanDyk and Paul Oakenfold. In 2002, Adelman purchased the Palace Theatre in Hollywood and the Limelight, the same venue he directed ten years earlier, in NYC. After one year and ten million dollars in construction and renovations, he launched Avalon on both coasts, along with the ultra-exclusive Spider Club. This club with in a club became the ultimate celebrity haunt, becoming one of the country’s most sought after nightlife experiences. Adelman was recognized for his efforts in the redevelopment of Hollywood as one it's pioneers, leading to the area’s current boom. In 2005 Adelman was tabbed to develop The Hillview Hollywood into a residential destination location, which included the addition of 86, a speakeasy/ restaurant, and the organic bistro Lift. Always striving to be one step ahead and breaking new ground, Adelman expanded his focus to Asia in 2009, opening Avalon as part of the Marina Bay Sands Casino in Singapore. Avalon Singapore became the first of its kind US entertainment brand in Asia. Returning to the US in 2014, Adelman set his sights on Beale Street in Memphis, restoring the acclaimed New Daisy Theatre which reopened in the Fall of 2015.
