释义 |
Sustainable Electronics Recycling Initiative (SERI) is a non-profit organization with the main purpose of advancing proper electronics reuse, repair, and recycling at the international level [1]. SERI is the agency responsible for developing the Responsible Recycling (R2) standard [2]. The R2 permit is required in many states in the US as a standard of environmental engineering needed to obtain a state permit to legally recycle electronics. For instance, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) requires the R2 permit or an equivalent international recycling permit to be obtained by electronics recyclers to remain legal[3]. In addition, the [https://sustainableelectronics.org/sites/default/files/R2-2013%20Standard%20%5BENGLISH%5D.pdf R2:2013] also requires that the organization complies to either RIOS standards or both OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001. Basically, SERI is the organization that created the R2 permit and the R2 permit is the set of standards for organizations to legally and responsibly recycle electronics.
