Swami (Dr.) Dhirendracharya (born on 23 July 1978) is an Indian yoga guru and is known for his in work in yoga and increasing awareness for social issues. He is one the founders of ‘Yog Sadhna Mission’.

Early life and education

Swami Dhirendracharya was born on 23rd July 1978 in the Mayurbhanj district of Orissa. He learnt yoga from his spiritual master and grandfather, Guru Akhandala. He has completed his PHD in Stress Management and well being through Yoga. Before that Swamiji had already completed his graduation in education honors, B.Ed. in Yoga and MA in Education. Swamiji has been teaching Yoga since childhood. Later Swamiji practiced Sādhanā in the region of Himalaya for several years.

Career

Swamiji started the ‘Yog Sadhna Mission’'s organization in 1990 for the welfare of society in different fields and also to promote the message of yoga. His organization has organized yoga camps all the way from New Delhi to Mumbai to the prisoner's in Tihar jail. The Yog Sadhna Mission has also organized awareness camps for female foeticide especially Punjab and Haryana, Afforestation and Water conservation.

About the Organization

‘Yog Sadhna Mission’ is a national level charitable organization.

Various Activities of the organization include:

1.Promotion of Yog and Naturopathy:

Organization has organized a number of camps in different parts of the country. Few of them are:

  • Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi.
  • Indian Navy, Mumbai.
  • Doctors of PGI, Chandigarh.
  • Doctors of AIIMS, Delhi
  • Gynecologists of northern India, Chandigarh.
  • Ludhiana Stock Exchange.
  • Students of IIT, Kanpur and Delhi.
  • Management Institutes – JIM, UBS, XIMB, NIPER etc.
  • Police Institutes – Punjab Police Training Academy Philaur, Orissa Police Training Institute, Jharkhand Police Training Institute etc.
  • Covered more than 40000 prisoners in India.To name a few – Tihar Jail, Jharpada Central Jail, Choudwar Central Jail, RourKela Central Jail, Baripada Central Jail, Bhawanipatna Central Jail, Sambalpur Jail etc.
  • Programme to sensitize Jailers about juvenile delinquency at various Correctional Administrations – Chandigarh, Bhubaneshwar etc.
  • Employees of Transport Bhawan, New Delhi.
  • More than 100 public camps in different states of India.
  • Employees in Corporate sector – Reliance Retail, Reliance Infocom, IDEA Mobile Networks, LG Electronics etc.
  • Students and teachers of Delhi University (Delhi), Punjab University (Chanidgarh), Utkal University (Orissa), RevenShaw University (Orissa),Cultural University  (Orissa) etc.
  • Camps organized for bureaucrats, politicians and media persons.

2. Awareness camps organized for:

  • Female foeticide especially Punjab and Haryana.
  • Aforestation.
  • Pollution.
  • Water conservation.
  • Love for animals.
  • Maintaining harmony and peace in family.
  • Respect for senior citizens.

3. Improvement of tribals:

  • Provide education
  • Sanitation
  • Preservation of tribal culture.
  • Spiritual awareness.
  • Promoting their interest in games

4. Marriage of underprivileged girls A number of such girls have been supported and got married by the organization.

5. Financial support for poor students – Poor students with caliber and zeal to study have been given financial help by the organization.

6. ‘Yagya’ organized for purification of society – Maha Yagya has been organized in tribal belts being attented by almost 1.5 lakh people.
