TerraDois or Terra2 (Portuguese for EarthTwo) is a philosophical post modern view of the world created by Jorge Forbes.[1][2], a Brazilian psychoanalyst and PhD[3]

Philosophical Concept

In his theory, Forbes divides our social world into two distinct categories: TerraDois and TerraUm. TerraUm is representative of the standards and fundamental principles that have driven and defined society for the past 2,500 years. Whereas, Terra2 reflects the ever-changing, constantly-innovating reality that constitutes much of our present day and will pervade on through to our future[1][2].

“TerraDois is equal to TerraUm, geographically, and its inhabitants are very similar. But that’s it. From there, everything changes. From birth to death, going through all stages of life: educating, studying, loving, marrying, working, procreating, professionalizing, entertaining, retiring, everything is radically different. (…) These changes have been treated with old medicines for the lack of something better. New concepts and practices are needed to legitimize TerraDois .” Jorge Forbes[2]

Each entity in our world — be it an individual, a company, or an entire industry altogether — as part of Terra1 and/or Terra2. These two distinguished categories both exist in the present day, but differ fundamentally.[4]

TerraDois (TV Show)

This philosophical view originated the award-winning television program TerraDois..[5][6]

Created by Jorge Forbes and produced by TV Cultura[7], a popular free television channel promoting educational and cultural content across Brazil, TerraDois presents and discusses the major changes and dilemmas we face today. In 2018 TerraDois was awarded the Best Tv Show of The Year by the Associação Paulista dos Críticos de Arte.[8]

Series Format

Episodes of TerraDois are thus far independent from one another, in that there is no run-on plot or storyline to be followed across multiple episodes as each episode focuses on the application of Jorge Forbes' philosophical concepts into varying theoretical scenarios. Each episode of TerraDois is split into three sections: the brainstorm, the performance, and the discussion.[9]

Brainstorm

Before the actual performance of each episode's storyline comes the brainstorming sessions between the psychoanalyst showrunner,  Jorge Forbes, the celebrity anchor, the cast members, and an acting coach. The characters and their respective actors change each episode.

Performance

After the brainstorming session including Jorge Forbes, the cast, and the celebrity anchor, the show moves onto an uninterrupted performance of the dramatic scene involving only the actors in their respective roles.

Discussion

Once the actors have completed their performance, a discussion is held between Jorge Forbes and the celebrity anchor regarding the preceding dramatic performance.

Season One

First debuted on March 21, 2017 on TV Cultura, the first season of TerraDois consisted of eight episodes featuring Jorge Forbes alongside popular Brazilian actress Maria Fernanda Cândido[10], who interviews Forbes in understanding the concept and real-life applications of his Terradois philosophical theory.

Season Two

Season two of TerraDois debuted on October 25, 2017 at 22:30 (GMT-2) on TV Cultura, featuring Jorge Forbes alongside Brazilian actress Bete Coelho.[11][12]
