释义 |
The Texas Petawatt Laser is a high intensity laser used for research at the University of Texas at Austin. Currently, it is one of the highest intensity lasers in the United States.[1] It is a part of the Center for High Energy Density Science, which is funded by the National Nuclear Science Agency and the University of Texas at Austin.[2] The Texas Petawatt Laser was selected to be a part of LaserNetUS, a new network of laser facilities around the United States organized by the Department of Energy. [1] Laser Construction and CapabilitiesThe Texas Petawatt Laser uses Optical Parametric Chirped Pulse Amplification followed by power amplification in two types of Neodymium-doped glass.[3] For full-power shots (system shots), the laser can deliver 1.1 petawatts of peak power to the target.[4] A variety of shot characteristics are available upon request.[4] ResearchA variety of high energy density science research is conducted at the Texas Petawatt Laser, however primary focus is given to three topics:
