The Aviation Club of the UK, or UKAC as it is sometimes referred, is a members' networking forum and lunch club focused on the civil aviation industry. The club is based in London and holds a variety of events across the city.

History

The Aviation Club was founded in February 1990 to support and promote all aspects of civil aviation [1].

The group developed to become a lunch club, based at the Institute of Directors on Pall Mall.

Activities

The club is centered around lunch events which always include a prominent speaker from the industry. In general, they host seven lunches each year. According to the clubs website, over 200 Chief Executives and other leading opinion formers have spoken.

Alongside lunches, the club also hosts a Summer Reception, often at the House of Lords, and more recently has launch a series of drinks receptions aimed and younger members[2].

The club has selected Orbis International as its official charity and conducts a number of fundraising activities each year to raise funds for the charity.

Structure

The club is managed by an Executive Committee, formed of seventeen elected members, and it's various sub-committees. The Executive Committee is lead by a Chair, currently Karl Brunjes (brother of [Harry Brunjes]] and supported by the Executive Secretary.

Members are elected to the Executive Committee to serve three year terms and must be proposed and seconded by two existing members before standing. Voting is conducted on a one member, one vote basis.

The Chair is selected by Executive Committee members.

Anyone with an interest in the industry may apply to become a member of the club. Membership applications are reviewed and approved by the Executive Committee.
