释义 |
The Beast of Bray Road is a 2005 US horror film distributed by The Asylum, one of the first distributed by that company. It is somewhat based on the Wisconsin cryptozoological legend the Beast of Bray Road[1], but the film depicts a more violent creature than the one of legend. [2] Unlike many of the later releases by The Asylum, this film is not a mockbuster. PlotA series of very violent murders occur in and around a small town in Wisconsin, the first of which occurs at a local bar owned by Kelly. As the number of missing and presumed dead climbs, several people claim to have seen a big hairy beast, which local legend holds has lives in the area. Initially, it appears that the Loubes brothers are responsible for the attacks. Meanwhile, certain unbelieving townspeople are looking to play up the whole “Beast of Bray Road” story in order to increase local tourism unaware that there really is a rampaging monster stalking the night. However, the town's new sheriff, Phil Jenkins, with a cryptozoologist, Quinn McKenzie who learned of the attacks on line, investigate the grisly deaths and McKenzie eventually determined that the killer was a werewolf. (The DNA of the creature recovered after an attack contains both wolf and human DNA.) After McKenzie is attacked by the creature, the Sheriff tracts it down, killing it using several silver tipped bullets.[3] CastJeff Denton ...... Sheriff Phil Jenkins Tommy Downey ..... Due to licensing rights, the production crew of The Beast of Bray Road were unable to use anything bearing the logo of Budweiser beer in Kelly's Roadhouse, so they substituted it with the fictional Pudweiser beer for all of the related signage[5] ReceptionThe Video Graveyard found that the movie was not memorable, but that fans of the genre should enjoy the movie.[6] Dread Central found that while the movie started well, it is soon bogged down by a lack of imagination and cliche. Howeverm the special effects wee noted as being very good for the film's budget,[7] As of March 2018, Rotten Tomatoes gave the movie a rating of 25% [8] Home ReleaseThe movie was released on DVD on March 12, 2010[9] The DVD includes a short feature on the making of the movie.
