History

[https://www.folktaleproject.com/ The Folktale Project] is a podcast hosted and produced by Dan Scholz. Beginning production in 2016, the show contains over 480 episodes^[1] of folklore, folktales, myths and legends from around the world categorized by region. Originally started as a way to capture bedtime stories for his daughter^[2] the podcast has expanded to a growing repository of stories. The podcast produced five stories per week until January 2017, when it switched to the current Monday, Wednesday, Friday release schedule.^[3]

Reception

The Folktale Project was the Anchor.fm Podcast of the Day on April 27, 2017.^[4]

In December of 2018, The Folktale Project was announced as the most popular podcast in the state of Alabama by Nerdist and Spotify.^[5]

Awards

The podcast was nominated for a 2018 People's Choice Podcast Award in the Arts Category.^[6]
