Theia is a singer and songwriter from New Zealand. She was born and raised in Christchurch.[1] In June 2017, Theia released her self-titled EP.[2] [3] The six track EP contained the singles "Roam", "Champagne Supernova" and "Treat You".[4] [5] [6] Five of the six tracks on the EP were produced by Josh Fountain at Golden Age Studios in Auckland, New Zealand. The opening track, "Silver Second", was produced by Alex Hope. The EP debuted at number 15 in the New Zealand charts.[7] Theia opened for Sia at Mt Smart Stadium in December, 2018.[8] She also opened for Portugal. The Man at the Powerstation in Auckland in May 2018. [9] [10] Theia was nominated for three Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards in 2017. [11] They included 'Single of the Year' for "Roam", 'Pop Artist of the Year' and 'Vodafone People's Choice Award'. Theia performed at the Music Awards. In March 2018, Theia returned with "Bye Bye", the first single from her second yet-to-be-released EP. It was described by Clash Magazine as a "storming salute to the underdog".[12] "Bye Bye" debuted at number four in the NZ Heatseeker Singles Chart. [13] Theia followed "Bye Bye" with the release of "Bad Idea" in July 2018.
