Established in 2013, TIC is the first (and currently largest) improv school in the country. HistoryThe Company was created by members of The Improvables, who themselves were originally from the improv wing of [https://cfa.nus.edu.sg/learn-explore/talent/theatre/nus-stage/ NUS Stage] at the National University of Singapore. Singapore Improv FestivalThe Singapore Improv Festival (SIF) is a Singaporean festival that showcases a mix of local and international improv groups. The SIF is biennial on even-numbered years; this is to avoid clashing with the Manila Improv Festival, another biennial improv festival in the Philippines that has greater prominence in the Asia-Pacific. The SIF was first launched by TIC in 2016, at a time when there was a notable growth in interest for improv within Singapore. The two-day festival was hosted at Centre 42, and featured a number of local improv troupes. The success of the 2016 run led to second SIF in 2018, which starred a number of acts from Singapore and all over the Asia-Pacific.[1] This time, the four-day festival was held at [https://www.aliwalartscentre.sg/ Aliwal Arts Centre]. VenueAs of 2015, TIC is located at 62b South Bridge Road, Singapore. The small studio regularly hosts performances by Singaporean improv troupes. As it is on the second floor of a colonial-era shophouse, there is no lift access; the venue is thus not wheelchair-accessible.
