The Island Beyond the Coast is a historical novel written by Iota Angel. The book has been released by the English company [https://www.mythworld.eu/ Mythworld Entertainment], which holds the global copyright, in both Greek (Το Νησί Πέρα από την Ακτή; To Nisi Pera apo tin Akti) and English language. The book presentation took place at the Municipal Theatre of Piraeus, on 1 June 2017.[1][2][3][4]. Based on historical facts and references during the 19th century, the book gives readers the sensation of travelling around Athens, Piraeus, the beautiful islands, and other parts of Greece through a flashback journey in a realm of magic and imagination. Hans Christian Andersen[5][6][7] and Bayard Taylor[8][9][10][11], two highly distinguished writers, are the storyteller-heroes in the book. Citing not only their own memories but impressions and experiences of ninety-three other foreign travelers, like Mark Twain[12], Fredrika Bremer[13][14] and Charles Tuckerman[15], they present the pattern of the Greek society in the 19th century. Hans Christian Andersen, the famous Dane “storyteller”, is the hero in the first part of the book, while Bayard Taylor, the American writer, poet and journalist, in the second part. They knew each other; however, Andersen had visited Greece in the first half of the 19th century while Taylor in the second half. Thus, each one of them had a narrative of his own. Of course, in the book, both travel into each other’s timeline as well as in the past, even back into the glorious years of ancient Greece. Andersen and Taylor’s narrations come out in a confessional way with comments and a monologue from within. Events escalate without following a proper chronological order and are often interrupted to present the history of earlier events or post-date past. Stories are narrated exactly as they are presented in the books of the ninety-five foreign travellers, with authentic subjective information, thoughts and opinions.
