The Pathogen & Microbiome Institute (PMI) is located on the campus of Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona, United States. PMI consists of The Microbiome Center, The Public Health and Clinical Translational (PHACT) Genomics Center and The Biodefense and Disease Ecology Center. Research at PMI focuses on pathogen genetics, arthropod vectors, bioinformatics and the human microbiome.

History

The Keim Genetics Laboratory (KGL) at NAU published several peer-reviewed articles discussing strain discrimination within the genetically homogeneous pathogen Bacillus anthracis from 1999-2001. The 2001 anthrax attacks (Amerithrax)
