The shop also serves as a local networking hub for artists/musicians alike to connect, network + perform and further the local music and arts culture. April of 2017 The Record Lounge relocated from East Lansing to its new location in REOtown [2] (a neighborhood of Lansing, Michigan[3]) "The Record Lounge is one of a handful of woman owned record shops in the country and proud of it! Since 2008 they have been a vinyl only shop carrying both new and used titles. The shop is newly located in the very cool up and coming neighborhood called Reo Town just south of downtown Lansing. Other than vinyl they also carry cassettes, local music, magazines, t-shirts and awesome vintage stereo equipment that has all been professionally refurbished."[4] "(Heather) Frarey worked at Wherehouse Records[5] in high school. She graduated and married Bill Frarey. He was in the military, so they traveled. When they came back in 1988, she went back to work for Wherehouse Records[6] and became a buyer, though she eventually moved on. Frarey and her husband were in a bad motorcycle accident in 1999. She couldn’t stand or sit for long periods of time, so she sold records online. She started her brick and mortar business in 2008 in East Lansing, where she remained until April of 2017." [7] |
