Who are The Secret Society of Super Villain Artists[https://www.ssosva.com/ The Secret Society of Super Villain Artists] (SSOSVA) are an international arts collective, known to its members as SSOSVA. It is assumed that it was formed in 1921 due to its logo having the roman numerals for that year, however 1921 was just chosen at random. SSOSVA was formed more recently in 2013 by UK street artist Silent Bill. SSOSVA take what they do seriously but they do not take themselves serious with the humour element evident in the tongue in cheek nature of the 'Secret Society' and 'Super Villain' part within its name. Its AimSSOSVA's website states that : They are set on making a difference in the world while having a good time doing it. The branding and badges may look chaotic but it is nothing more than symbolism to their higher order, their secret handshake and passing nod, if you will. They network among each other and participate in charity events and fundraising while setting up art exhibits to support their members on an international playing field. They hope to spread their roots throughout the independent art community and with that, affect thinking and awareness on a global level in due time with steady growth. In other words, for artists and people alike; they fight the good fight. As members all they can offer you is our comradeship and the community in which they share. It's up to you to if you want to improve on that community yourself. NB - SSOSVA does not condone vandalism. MembershipMembers are required to fill out an application form, with the first mission actually being to find the blank form. The application form was to enable members to showcase their talents and to encourage other members to welcome them and to introduce others to their work. Below are examples of SSOSVA membership forms: Members originally misinterpreted the mischievous nature of SSOSVA and began to return the application form to the address which was on the form, which happened to be The Tate, London, much to the ire of The Tate. EthosEncouraging and helping othersThe main Aim of SSOSVA is to help and encourage others to participate in creative pursuits. They encourage creativity in all forms and have assisted in helping members. Charitable AimsSSOSVA and its members often participate in charity events and good causes. Members regularly donate artworks toward charity auctions and are encouraged to donate a small percentage of proceeds of any art sales that use the logo within the art piece. Fighting InjusticeSSOSVA gets involved Branches and DivisionsThe Legend DivisionThere is also a Legend Division that consists of idols of various members of SSOSVA. Legend Division members include Ziggy and Roly from Grange Hill, Booger from Revenge of the Nerds, Kunt and the Gang, Boba Fett actor Jeremy Bulloch and Darth Vader actor David Prowse. There are also some very famous 'Secret' members within SSOSVA that for various reasons cannot be affiliated with 'Super Villains' so wish to remain anonymous but support and help from behind the scenes. The Palestine Division logo was one of the first pieces of graffiti to appear on the wall at Banksy's "Walled off Hotel" in Palestine and SSOSVA logos were the only graffiti not removed daily from Dismaland. Google Books is a good resource for this. Also, while search engine results are not sources, they are where you can find sources. Just remember that they need to be professionally-published mainstream academic or journalistic sources. 3) Focus on just the ones that are not dependent upon or affiliated with the subject, but still specifically about the subject and providing in-depth coverage (not passing mentions). If you do not have at least three such sources, the subject is not yet notable and trying to write an article at this point will only fail. 4) Summarize those sources left after step 3, adding citations at the end of them. You'll want to do this in a program with little/no formatting, like Microsoft Notepad or Notepad++, and not in something like Microsoft Word or LibreOffice Writer. Make sure this summary is just bare statement of facts, phrased in a way that even someone who hates the subject can agree with. 5) Combine overlapping summaries (without arriving at new statements that no individual source supports) where possible, repeating citations as needed. 6) Paraphrase the whole thing just to be extra sure you've avoided any copyright violations or plagiarism. 7) Use the Article wizard to post this draft and wait for approval. 8) Expand the article using sources you put aside in step 3 (but make sure they don't make up more than half the sources for the article, and make sure that affiliated sources don't make up more than half of that). Doing something besides those steps typically results in the article not being approved, or even in its deletion. If you are writing about yourself, or someone or something you are connected with (such as a friend, family member, or your business), the following steps are different: 1) If the subject really was notable, you wouldn't need to write the article. Remember that articles are owned by the Wikipedia community as a whole, not the article subject or the article author. If you do not want other people to write about you, then starting an article about yourself is a bad idea. 8a) If the article is accepted, never edit it again. Instead, make edit requests on the article's talk page. 8b) If the article is rejected, there will be a reason given. Read it carefully and closely. If there are links in the reason, open them and read those pages. |
