This gave them to access public schooling that was historically denied. The integration into public school was supposed to be the opportunity to gain equality and an opportunity to move up in society. Many white families fear that their children would not be safe around minorities. And they began to take them out of public schools and started sending their children into private and charter school. And with the creation of new communities, they started to sell their homes and move out of the city. Therefore making the Los Angeles even more segregated than they ever before. This process took the time it was something that did not happen over but it took a couple of years. As parent started to sign their children into the nonsegregated school. The dominant group feared that there children education was going to be interrupted and dumb down because of the new black and brown student coming into the system. They fear that drugs and gang violence that traditionally persist in lower socioeconomic communities were going to a treat to their children. One of the ways that they fought integration was redlining the city and creating new boundaries so color and minority's student could go to school ls close to their children school. But still keep them together in the same school arguing that that was the school that they belong. The unintentional damage to the public school system is something that would shape the city for a long time. This had a terrible effect on the city and the school system. As people began to move out they took their businesses out to their new communities. Which meant that there were fewer taxes for that city and for schools. People started to live by the thousand during the 1960s and all the ways too late 1980s has the city became a place for minorities. The city underwent a huge transformation of new communities that came in to live in Los Angeles but they were less affluent or they were just immigrants coming as refugees as the terrible war on Central America were happening. The new immigrant and minorities did not have the capital to invest in big businesses that would allow them to pay a good amount of taxes. The majority of businesses were small family own or they were just simply serviceable places to help serve the needs of the community like laundries, repair shop, and small restaurants. ^ "Western Journal of Black Studies". 30.
