TWF has created public art installations and performances in the US, Colombia, Mexico, France and Australia. The first installation presented in NYC in 2011 was called Reflecting the Stars and consisted of wireless solar powered LED lights installed on decaying pier posts at the Hudson River. This installation raised awareness for the light pollution in the city as people on the shore pushed buttons that light up different constellations. Other installations created by the collective are Pixel Vortex (at Panorama Festival 2018), Right Passage (at Panorama Festival 2017), Cape Hope (with Sampa The Great for Laneway Festival 2017), Aurora (debut in Los Cabos, Mexico 2017), The Wedge (Burning Man, 2009). Until 2018, The Windmill Factory has worked on the production design for tours of the bands Phantogram, Nine Inch Nails, Metric, Andrew McMahon, Leisure Cruise and Big Data. |
