This is the second book in the series An Arc of a Scythe, and the sequel to Scythe. The book follows Citra, Rowan, and Scythe Curie. Rowan takes up a new name of "Scythe Lucifer" and becomes a vigilante, killing dishonorable, "new-guard" scythes. Citra teams up with her mentor scythe, Scythe Curie. As a newly bejeweled scythe, Citra has her gleaning methods speculated at Conclave. After external threats on the lives of Citra and Curie, and the capture of Rowan, all of their lives change.
