Tiraspol Uyezd was an administrative division of Kherson Governorate of the Russian Empire.

The emergence of the Tiraspol district was connected with the signing on December 27, 1791 of the Yassy peace treaty between the Russian and Ottoman empires, according to which the territories passed to the west from the Southern Bug River to the Dniester River . An important event preceding the emergence of the Tiraspol district was the construction of the Tiraspol fortress in 1792, at which the city almost immediately began to develop.

From 1792 to 1795, Tiraspol was the center of the Ochakov region . From 1795 to 1797 existed together with the Baltsky and Olgopolsky counties within the borders of one province - Voznesensky . From 1797 to 1802 Tiraspol district was part of the Novorossiysk province created by Pavel I. During this period, the county included such cities as Odessa (Khadzhibey), Balta, Dubossary, Ovidiopol and Grigoriopol. Less than a year, from October 8, 1802 to May 15, 1803, the district existed as part of Alexander I created the province of Nikolayev. In 1803, the province was renamed from Nikolaevskaya to Kherson. Initially, it included 4 districts: Kherson, Alexandria, Elisavetgrad, Olviopolsky. During the three-year period (1803–1806), the administrative affiliation of the county remains uncertain, and since 1806 the Tiraspol county becomes an integral part of the Kherson province. Later, within the framework of the Kherson province, two city governments are distinguished - Odessa and Nikolaevand then two districts - Odessa and Ananyevsky. During the years 1825-1827. Odessa was formed: 21806 inhabitants, 578325 acres of land were transferred from Tiraspol district, 5640 inhabitants and 268840 acres of land from the neighboring Olviopol district were included in Tiraspolsky district . In the autumn of 1834, the Tiraspol district (990 thousand acres) was again divided, and about half of its territory became the basis of the newly created Ananyevsky district. From the mid-1930s, the borders of the remaining part of the Tiraspol district did not change, and this stability continued until the 1920s.
