Its base of operations is in Pasig, Metro Manila and it currently has 54 stores around the country. Established in 1978, Toby's Sports operates under Quorum International Inc. (QII), the retail arm of Quorum Holdings Corp. QII also has two other retail chains under its belt - Runnr, a running specialty store, and urbanAthletics, a street lifestyle store.[1] HistoryToby's Sports was established in August 1978 [2] when Roberto 'Bobby' Claudio opened Toby’s Forms and Shapes, a small store in Virra Mall, Greenhills, San Juan. It was named after his then 4-year old son and initially sold toys.[3] In 2017, Toby's Sports launched its biggest campaign to date, titled "We Got This." The campaign underlines the company's constant pursuit to promote sports and an active lifestyle among Filipinos.[4] Responding to the increasing demand for online shopping channels, Toby's Sports launched a revamped version of its e-commerce site, www.tobys.com[5], which is now one of the most visited online sites in the country. In October 1, 2017, Toby's Sports also celebrated the country's first "National Sports and Fitness Day" as part of its We Got This campaign.[6] In August 2018, the retailer celebrated its 40th Anniversary and announced the retirement of its CEO and Founder Bobby Claudio.[7] During his retirement speech, Bobby Claudio stated that he would like to focus on the company's charitable works, particularly Toby's Youth Sports Foundation[8],a non-profit organization that focuses on promoting sports at the grassroots level.
