Tónandi is an immersive, augmented reality experience created for the Magic Leap platform..[1] It is a collaboration between Magic Leap Studios and the Icelandic musicians, Sigur Rós. [2]. Rather than traditional linear tracks of stereo music, the app consists of dynamic music systems which can be manipulated through user input and vary from session to session. Over a thousand musical samples were extracted from the artist's work to achieve a natural sound.[3] These systems manifest themselves as visual, interactive "sound spirits," from which the name Icelandic name, Tónandi is literally derived. [4]. In February of 2019, Tónandi won the award for Technical Achievement for Immersive Experience[5] at the D.I.C.E. Awards.
