Thereafter, she went on to St Andrews School for Girls in the suburb of Senderwood for High School. She took Music as one of her main subjects, studying Piano under Margie Cleghorn. In addition she sang in the Choir, and Chamber Choir under the guidance of Mrs Barbara Toms. She also played in the Orchestra, Marimba group, and Orff group. [2] The Choir and Orchestra did a UK school tour in 1995 where they sang on BBC, as well as under the Tree at Trafalgar. Over this period they also sang with the Kings Singers Cambridge College Choir and performed at York Cathedral with their Brass Band. She was aged 16 at the time. While at school, she performed in school plays call the Boy Friend, The Crucible, and Barnum. In 1997, she toured as part of a tennis team to Australia. After School, she attended the well known university in Cape Town: UCT College of Music.[3] She completed her undergrad with Piano as her Major, taught by Francois Du Toit[4], Helena van Heerden and Liesel Maret Jacobs Kemp. Over this period she played in the UCT Orchestra and sang with the Cape Town Philharmonic Choir. Marriage and childrenMarried in 2004 to Philip Norton during this time they adopted 3 children. She divorced in July 2011 CareerFrom 2006 to 2016 Toni primarily taught Music in government as well as private sector schools. This included the running of music departments, teaching classes, with experience in accompaniment, productions, choral training, orchestra, marimba and Orff training as well as individual lessons for all ages. Toni was included on the judging panel for the ACSA National Choir Competition[5] in 2011 and 2012. Toni adjudicated the Reddam ASB annual music competition in 2016. She is passionate about music development. In 2013, Toni had the privilege of working with phenomenal actor, Jeff Bridges on the piano scene required for the movie ‘The Giver’ (Moonlighting Films), released in August 2014.[6] She also worked on a music scene with young actor, Ray Crosswaite, for the series ‘Black Sails’ (Film Afrika).[6] In 2015 she consulted on the music scenes for ‘L’Odessey’ as well as coached actor Kenny Wormard for his piano scene in “Honey 3”.[6] In February 2014, Toni launched Tonic Productions, a music school based in Bantry Bay, Cape Town. [7] Her students include those wanting to learn how to play the piano as well as DJ’s and Production students wanting to expand their keyboard skills for the purpose of production. She also offers vocal coaching and has two guitar teachers operating from Seapoint. Toni started composing in 2013.
