Tonita learned her craft from her mother. Her early death in 1945 left a small, but prolific collection of work. CareerTonita mastered many polychrome styles. She hand-painted many designs herself. Her collection includes numerous pottery forms including jars, plates, vases, cornmeal boxes, and prayer meal bowls Tonita is credited with inventing the red-on-red style with white outlines.[2] Works
