Toy Factory Productions Ltd ^[1](also known as Toy Factory or simply Toy) was once a humble puppetry company but has evolved to becoming big theatrical player, establishing itself as Singapore's leading bilingual theatre company. Chief artistic Director Goh Boon Teck   founded Toy in 1990.

Since being founded in 1990, the company has clinched 13 Life! Theatre Awards. Goh Boon Teck positioned the company to stage many original works, with the commitment to stage excellent productions including recent shows Titoudao and The Crab Flower Club. Toy Factory has been actively participating in creative exchanges on local and global platforms including Australia, China, Egypt, Indonesia, Japan, Philippines, Thailand and Russia.

Theatre Productions

Toy Factory Productions produces at least two shows on a yearly basis at many venues in Singapore. These include plays for the Singapore Arts Festival and overseas festivals that are original works. The shows are carefully crafted through an intense creative process with the inclusion of workshops that are collaborative in nature. Synopsis

About the Production

Toy Factory's adaptation by Stanley Seah of the novel Here and Beyond: 12 Stories[https://www.ethosbooks.com.sg/products/here-and-beyond-12-stories], edited by Cyril Wong, the only local text prescribed for 'O' Level Literature. It was staged at SOTA Drama Theatre during the early part of 2018.

Told with an ensemble of 7 actors, retelling the stories written by 12 Singaporeans; S. Rajaratnam, Yeo Wei Wei, Goh Sin Tub, Simon Tay, Stephanie Ye, Alfian Sa’at, Suchen Christine Lim, Wena Poon, O Thiam Chin, Claire Tham, Philip Jeyaretnam and Felix Cheong were brought to life onstage. The talented ensemble cast comprised of veterans such as Timothy Nga and Irfan Kasban, as well as Abby Lai, Darren Guo, and some fresh faces such as Jolene Wong, Tan Rui Shan and Rusydina Afiqah.

The theatrical adaptation is directed by Toy Factory's Associate Artistic Director Stanley Seah, backed with a transformable set and light design by Pertina Dawn Tan painting the landscape of Singapore, and a perfect blend of sound concept designed by Louis Quek, smoothly transiting one story to the next. Creating a visually pleasing theatrical world portraying 12 startlingly honest short stories sharing inimitable feelings, struggle and ideals from the past and present Singapore.

Synopsis

About the Production

Toy Factory's contemporary take on this American literacy classic portrays what is still relevant to current affairs with a thought-provoking experience that revealed the dire consequences of combining faith with law, along with other timeless issues such as speaking up against a higher authority and against the masses.

This noteworthy play was directed by Rayann Condy, who has also directed past Toy Factory Productions such as Equus. Award-winning Thai fashion designers Saksit Pisalasupongs and Phisit Jongnarangsin from Tube Gallery Bangkok have also return to design the costumes for this production. The production was staged at the Singapore National Library Drama Centre with its set designed by Chris Chua brought the piece back to it's roots, along side the lighting designed by Gabriel Chan.

The cast comprised of veterans such as Rodney Oliviero, Timothy Nga, Julie Wee, Andrew Mowatt and Matt Grey. There were also some fresh faces like Jean Toh, Dawn Teo, Georgia Fun, Marc Valentine, Renee Yeong, Victoria Chen, Jovetta Tan, Rosemary McGowan, and Sharda Harrison.

About the Production

Tin Tan and his Tembusu Tree is Toy Factory production's first school-touring play. It was written and directed by Goh Boon Teck as a tribute to his late mentor Kuo Pao Kun and his work A Silly Little Girl And The Funny Old Tree.
