Troy Pendleton

Troy Scott Pendleton was born in May of 1974 to Judy Starnes and Danny Pendleton. He is best known for writing and publishing books. [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074KHX96X Dead or Alive: The Reaper’s Redemption] and [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FNW1GNK Sheriff Carter Link: Vanished] are the first two books he wrote. Troy is also the co-founder of New Legend Books & Comics. (www.nlbooksandcomics.com)

Early life

Though his parents were married for a short time, they separated before his birth and Troy was then raised mostly by his mother who returned home to live with her parents Ed and Ruth Starnes. For the first three and half years of his life, he and his mother lived in Union, KY with Ed and Ruth. His mother then remarried and had two more children, Lindsay and Eric. Along with the half-siblings, the marriage brought in two old stepsiblings, David and Steven. By the time, Troy reached 7 years old; he had not seen his father in over 6 years and had no memory of him. This would soon change due to his grandmother taking him to see Danny. Danny soon became a regular part of Troy’s life and though the relationship was strained at times, the two managed to stay in contact. Through Danny, Troy has two more brothers, Danny Garland and Justin.

School was never one of Troy’s strong suits and he mostly hated it. Art, writing and history were the only subjects that he ever really enjoyed. Troy lived for after school and weekend times with his friend. Troy was also a very curious child and though his intelligence didn’t show in school his ability to take things apart and figure out how they worked helped him develop a troubleshooting ability that would aid him in every profession he would ever have. In the fifth grade, Troy wrote a short story that was later published in the local paper. This was the first time in his life that he left as though he stood out in the crowd and had some kind of talent that others didn’t have.

After 8 years of abuse by his stepfather, Troy’s mother took the children and left. Life as a single parent was not easy and the family struggled a lot. Twice Troy would have to go live with his grandparents due to those struggles but always returned home to his mother as soon as things were better. When he was barely 14, his grandfather died of a massive heart attack. The loss of Ed, who was more like a father to Troy, was very hard on him. He would spend years grieving the loss and coming to terms with it.

The rest of Troy’s teen years were spent hanging out with his friends and attending church on a regular basis. Though he had a strong connection to church as well as with the Pastor and his wife, Charles and Myra Payne, Troy didn’t always lead and upstanding life. Drinking heavily with his friends was a normal thing for him. At 17 Troy’s oldest daughter, Mekayla was born. The next year was a rough one for Troy. His mother remarried soon after he turned 18, he found himself on his own and he was not able to see his daughter regularly. After a year of living with friends, he and his daughter’s mother reconciled and got married.

Adult life

Life for Troy did not get any easier for Troy after getting married. In many ways, life got harder than ever. Repeatedly he and his wife would find themselves struggling to makes ends meet. During this time, Troy worked many different jobs but most food service and construction. Over the next several years, the two would go on to have three more children, Hunter, Drew and Mariah. At the age of twenty-seven and after his wife had finished her schooling, Troy decided he had to learn a new skill, in order to make more money to support his family. For the next 3 years, Troy worked full time and went to school full time. It was not easy but he graduated with an IT Degree. His happiness to be done with school was short lived though when his wife of 10 years left him and filed for divorce soon after. Troy was then left to raise four children while working two jobs to make ends meet.

It would take Troy three years to find a full time IT job and permanently give up construction work. Later that same year he would meet and married his second wife, whose oldest daughter, Samantha would soon turn to him as her father. The marriage would last seven years but part of that time was spent separated. The best thing to happen from those years was that Troy had gained a daughter. The relationship between he and Samantha was strong and the divorce did nothing to damage that.

In 2015, Troy met the mother of his daughter’s friend, Tammy while she was driving the girls to prom. Soon the two would begin dating and in the fall of 2017, they were married. For the first time Troy felt as though, he had found a real partner in life. The two of them have a very happy life and spend their free time with their family (combined 8 children & 10 grandchildren), remolding their house and relaxing by themselves.

Professional life

Troy spent his teens and twenties during verse jobs but mostly construction. Though he liked construction, he was never able to make the kind of money he wanted to and didn’t like the unpredictable nature of that business. He would spend the latter part of his twenty working full time and going to school full time. He then went into the IT field and has work in the industry ever since.

Earlier in 2017 Troy and his friend, Charles Little Jr founded New Legend Books & Comics (www.nlbooksandcomics.com) and published their first novel, [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074KHX96X Dead or Alive: The Reaper’s Redemption], in August 2017. Since then New Legend Books & Comics has released another novel, [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FNW1GNK Sheriff Carter Link: Vanished], and a Children’s book titled The Otter & The Whale. They are currently working on two more novels and two more children’s book, all of which they hope to have out in 2019.
