{subst:submit}} The Turritopsis Nutricula (also known as the "Immortal Jellyfish") is a species of jellyfish that can renew its cells back, by the process of Transdifferentiation, to its larva stage. It could hypothetically live forever in the perfect environment by reverting itself back to a state before it is sexually mature when it is in danger or injured. Physical Description and Location:The Turritopsis Nutricula is 4.5mm in length and originates in the Caribbean, although it has been known to be found in Europe as it latches on the underside of traveling boats and cargo ships. DietThe Turritopsis Nutricula mainly eats small mollusks, fish eggs, and plankton. DiscoveryThe Turritopsis Nutricula was discovered in 1880 but it wasn't until the mid 1990's that scientists discovered its potential to live forever. However, it is important to note that they theoretically could live forever, but in reality they die easily and quite often.
