His team achieved the Northernmost latitude reached by a rowing vessel, was the first to row across the Arctic Ocean North to South and was first to row across the Greenland Sea.[2] Polar RowThe Polar Row covered 1251 Nautical Miles measured in a straight line (1440 Miles or 2361 Km) across the Arctic Ocean. It was the first expedition of its kind and pioneered new ocean rowing routes from Tromsø to Longyearbyen, from Longyearbyen to the Arctic Ice Shelf (79'55'500 N) and from the Arctic Ice Shelf to Jan Mayen.
