释义 |
The silencing of the media houses which are reporting the criticism of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party government (as the central government) in India been widely regarded as the silencing of the media and the "Undeclared Emergency in India" in the modern era. This silencing has been done by first, lobbying news channels for presenting selective views favoring the ruling party; and second, by the suppression of news channels for presenting news critical of the government particularly on the points of development and crime. Incident of tutoring of the farmer regarding the agricultural income and its report on ABP newsOn June 20th 2018, in a video conferencing session with the Prime Minister of India a farmer named Chandramani (from Kanker, Chattisgarh) claimed that her income had doubled after enrolling in the development program. Later ground reporter of ABP News news found that she had been tutored to say so.[1] A tussle between the government and the ABP News news over the truth of the report followed. ABP News news did a second round of reportage from the village and confirmed the earlier news. Soon thereafter, on August 1st ABP news channel’s management announced the resignation of its editor-in-chief, Milind Khandekar. This announcement was followed soon by the departure of Punya Prasun Bajpai, anchor of the popular nightly show, ‘Master Stroke’ which revealed the case of Chandramani Kaushik and tutoring about development and doubling of income. Anchor Abhishar Sharma was also sent on a leave.[2] [3]This issue[4] [5][6] has been regarded as the case of undermining of the media [7] [8] which is the fourth pillar of democracy after Legislature, Executive and Judiciary.
