An untitled X-23 film is an upcoming American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, distributed by 20th Century Fox. It is intended to be an installment of the X-Men film series, and a spin-off from the 2017 film Logan. The film is being written by James Mangold and Craig Kyle, and is expected to star Dafne Keen in the title role.

Work on a spin-off from Logan focusing on Keen's Laura / X-23 had begun by October 2017, with Mangold and Kyle working on the script.

Ahead of the release of his 2017 film Logan, director James Mangold expressed interest in a spin-off film focusing on the character Laura / X-23 as portrayed by Dafne Keen, saying, "I would love to see another film about that character and that's certainly something I'd be involved in." Soon after that, X-Men film series producer Simon Kinberg mentioned a film based on X-23 among a list of potential films that they were interested in making,^[3] and Keen expressed interest in reprising her role for a spin-off.^[4] After Logan was released, X-23's creator Craig Kyle praised Mangold's version of the character, and expressed interest in working on an X-23 film, saying that he would like to explore more of "how she came to be" and show her dealing with the consequences of her past, violent actions.^[5] In October 2017, Mangold revealed that he was working on a script for a potential film with Kyle. Mangold cited the success of Patty Jenkins' superhero film Wonder Woman as "only [solidifying] more for studios that there's less to fear with a female protagonist." Noting the different genres that the X-Men films were starting to expand to, such as the horror film The New Mutants, producer Hutch Parker said that the film could move away from the western-noir tone of Logan to explore "other facets of that character".^[1]
