In 1991, while in Kiev, he actively supported the State Committee on the State of Emergency.[1] Chechevatov was a commander of the 3rd Guard Tank Army based in the German Democratic Republic.[2] Before 1990 he commanded the Kiev Military District, in 1991 he was appointed in command of the [[Russia Far East Military District]].[2] External links - Viktor Chechevatov at the Russian Ministry of Defense
