Vitaly Nahimovich Rapoport (02/05/1937-06/10/08)[1] [2] A Russian dissident [3] and a historian [4], who co-authored "HIGH TREASON: ESSAYS ON THE HISTORY OF THE RED ARMY, 1918-1938" with Yury Alekseyev. [5][6] Vitaly was a prolific author [7] of non-fiction, fiction and multitude English-Russian translations. [8] [9]

Vitaly was born in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine. He moved to Moscow, Russia to attend Institute of Metallurgy. In 1971 he received a PH.D. in Economics from Institute of World Economy and International Relations (IMEMO). In 1980 he immigrated to the United States with his family and settled in the New York City. In 1991 the family moved to New Jersey. While working as a computer programmer, Vitaly continued to write and publish. From 2002 until his death in 2008, he fully dedicated his time to researching and writing a book about true cost of World War II in human lives. He also spent substantial amount of time translating Shakespeare into Russian. His last work "War, May It Be Damned" was published after his death in 2008.[10] [11]
