VNX Exchange is a marketplace and trading platform for tokenized venture capital headquartered in Luxembourg. The platform interlinks several categories of customers: supply side and demand side. The supply side is represented by inventory providers — VC funds, startup accelerators, and other types of venture investors that are issuing security tokens on the VNX platform, linked to the future incomes from their investment portfolios. VNX Exchange's demand side are institutional investors, investment professionals and regular investors, who benefit from access to a new asset class.

History

VNX Exchange was founded in 2017 by Alexander Tkachenko, Managing General Partner of 2be.lu venture fund, a business angel, member of E100 – LBS angel investor network^[5]. The project was originally initiated by 2be.lu venture fund as a logical continuation of its venture activity. The fund's team has been looking for ways to provide liquidity in VC; the appearance of blockchain-based digital instruments led them to the idea of tokenized securities, which can bridge the gap between traditional financial markets and digital currency markets^[6].

One of the fund's investors, Vladimir Khanumyan, former head of large media holdings with a global coverage such as Gazprom-Media and CTC Media joined the project and was appointed as a Chairman of the newly created VNX Exchange. Khanumyan has experience building companies from a start-up to listing it on the NASDAQ^[7]^[8].

In 2018 VNX Exchange won the public support of Luc Frieden – former Minister of Justice and Minister of Finance of Luxembourg, Member of the Board of Directors of the Luxembourg Stock Exchange^[9].

In March 2018 Dominique Valschaerts, former CEO of the Brussels Stock Exchange, joined VNX's board ^[10]^[11].

In October 2018 VNX Exchage announced partnership with NEM, the goal of which was to develop protocols and standards for operating security tokens on the NEM blockchain through their entire life cycle^[12] ^[13].

Later on a new partnership between VNX Exchange and the University of Luxembourg was signed with the aim to improve the security of digital assets. The University of Luxembourg will reportedly design new IT frameworks to improve VNX Exchange's security, as well as digital asset custody^[14] ^[15].

In December 2018 Andy Shannon, former Head of Global at Startupbootcamp, a member of the [[World Economic

Forum's]] Digital Leaders Board, was appointed VNX Exchange's advisor^[16]^[17].

VNX Exchange is a member of the Luxembourg House of Financial Technology (LHoFT), Infrachain and APSI (L'Association des Professionnels de la Société de l'Information)^[18].

By creating a regulatory compliant and secure marketplace, VNX plans to reduce barriers for regular investors and unlock venture capital as an asset class to a much broader audience^[19].VNX Exchange addresses the VC market by bringing liquidity to institutional investors as they wait 10-15 years for the fund’s returns on capital, and by letting smaller investors in those funds by buying tokens^[20].

Asian market

VNX Exchange is expanding in Asia with a priority focus on Singapore, Hong Kong and South Korea^[21] ^[22][. In November 2018 Zing Yang, the Litecoin Foundation director, was appointed VNX Exchange's Senior Vice President to head the project's activity in Southeast Asia^[23]^[24]. As VNX Exchange’s Senior Vice President, Head of Asia, Yang is responsible for establishing local footprint, ecosystem development and investor relations in the region^[25]^[26].
