Of the eight sources, four are published by the company, two are indexes of the magazine, and two are broad coverage of circulation figures across multiple magazines for one time period. It really needs specific coverage in other publications (newspapers, etc) covering the actual magazine - essentially, to demonstrate that sources other than the magazine see it as important beyond its parent company. The coverage does exist (having had a bit of a look through a Factiva search): it just needs to make it into the article so someone doesn't nominate it for deletion in a week. Vogue Australia is the Australian edition of Vogue magazine. It is distributed in Australia, since 1959[2] and prior to that as a supplement from 1952[3]. Current readership is 406,000 (readership 1,7[3]), circulation 53,972[4][2]. Vogue Australia is a part of Condé Nast portfolio. The magazine is published by NewsLifeMedia (News Corp Australia). Since 1980s Vogue Australia has been published monthly, i.e. 1 Year subscription includes 12 issues[5].

History

Early magazines have the running title: British Vogue Supplement for Australia (since 1952/1959), according to the updated Vogue Australia Index[6][7].

Vogue Australia was founded by Bernard Leser, under whose guidence became "the country's premier fashion magazine, helping the country Australia to develop its style identity"[8]. Leser is celebrated as "one of the late 20th-century’s leading magazine publishers"[9].

Rosemary Cooper was the first Vogue Australia editor who launched the magazine in 1959, following renowned journalists like Sheila Scotter, June McCallum, Nancy Pilcher and Marion Hume contributed to the magazine growth and development (full list of editors from 1959-present). The role of former editor-in-chief Kirstie Clements, who was one of the longest acting editor-in-chief, should not be underestimated. Some her triumphs included "the Princess Mary cover in 2004, guest editors Karl Lagerfeld and Kylie Minogue and the illustrated covers of Cate Blanchett"[10]. She took Vogue Australia to a new level by underlining and developing the authenticity ('Australianity') of Australian Vogue and building up the recognisable stand alone brand[13].

Last decade: Initiatives include 'body positivity' and changing body image perceptions by correcting media bias. This Vogue-wide healthy body initiative represents 'a commitment on the part of the editors to promote positive and healthy body images'[14].

Vogue Australia aims to stay in the avant-garde of fashion. A digital format has been introduced by current editor-in-chief Edwina McCann in 2012, stating "digital is the long-term future"[11]. The digital edition is available on multiple platforms for tablet and smartphone devices. The official Vogue Australia web site was first launched in 2000 and has been relaunched in 2012[12]

Edwina McCann, current Vogue Australia editor-in-chief is an influential figure. She is a member of Australian Fashion Chamber.[14]

The post of Vogue (magazine) Australia Editors in Chief was initiated by Kirstie Clements[15]. Vogue Australia frequently invites guest editors such as Kylie Minogue[16], Karl Lagerfeld and others.

Christine Centenera, the fashion director of Vogue Australia, was listed in the Business of Fashion Top 500 in 2017.[17], as well as current editor-in-chief Edwina McCann[13]

Supplements

Vogue Australia has occasional supplements: Vogue Australia Business, Vogue Australia Beauty, Vogue Australia Man, Vogue Australia Fashion Week/Runaway, Vogue Australia Teen, Vogue Australia David Jones, Vogue Australia Living (since 1967), Miss Vogue Australia and others.Multiculturalism, as one of the pillars of modern Australian statehood, has become the reason why Vogue Australia launched the Chinese language edition, which features local content. These issues usually have little or no overlap with Vogue China. Furthermore, Vogue Australia's Chinese-language edition, admittedly has a different mission, diverse point-of-view and business model to that of Vogue China.[18]GQ Australia (magazine) has been a supplement to Vogue Australia in its early years. Grant Pearce was the editor of GQ Australia supplement as well as the other supplement Vogue Australia Man. Lately he has been responsible for the editorial direction of GQ Japan, Men's Vogue China and most recently GQ China[19]
