释义 |
Congressman Andrew Volstead was an American politician whose name became synonymous with the National Prohibition Act of 1919, usually referred to as the Volstead Act. As such, several cocktails were named after Volstead and his prohibition policies that banned the production, importation, transportation, and sale of alcoholic beverages in the United States from 1920 to 1933. The cocktails were more than likely tongue in cheek barbs by the millions of people who either skirted the law or liked to look back on it with an air of defiance. Volstead themed cocktails took many forms but shared commonalities.
