White Star Capital is an international venture capital firm with headquarter in Montreal, New york, London, Paris and Tokyo^[1], investing in technology-enabled companies with a focus on software, e-commerce, marketplace, fintech.^[2]Since its founding in 2007, the firm in vested in a number of companies and raised approximately $250m.

History

White Star Capital was founded by Eric Martineau Fortin former investment banker, Christian Hernandez Gallardo who was one of the first Facebook Europe director and Jean-François Marcoux founder of Ludia^[3]. White Star Capital has closed a first $70m^[4] fund in November 2015 and a second $180m^[5] fund in 2018.

Investments and Exits

The firm has realized approximately 60 investments since its foundation^[6].

The firm’s notable exits include:

• Dollar Shave Club acquired by Unilever in 2016 for a reported $1 billion in cash^[7]
• Summly founded by Nick D'Aloisio, 15 years old, acquired by Yahoo in 2013 for $30m. D'Aloisio has been recognised as the youngest person to receive a round of venture capital in technology, at just 15 years of age^[8].
• Ludia acquired by FremantleMedia in 2010.
• Digg acquired by BuySellAds in April 2018.
