}}The eighth season of the Dutch TV series Wie is de Mol? ("Who is the Mole?") aired in the winter of 2008. It followed the same format as its Belgian predecessor and previous seven seasons. It had ten Dutch celebrities travel to Mexico to complete "challenges" to earn money for the group pot. However, one of the ten was the Mole (de Mol), the one person trying to sabotage the challenges and get the least amount of money in the pot. It was the job of the normal candidates to earn money and unmask the Mole at the same time. Every few days, players would take a 20-question multiple choice quiz about the identity of the Mole. The candidate with the most wrong answers being "executed" from the game, until 3 would be left in the finale. The player who answered the most questions right in the last quiz (consisting of 40 questions) won the money collected by the winner.[1][2] In the end, Dennis was revealed to be the Mole. Edo unmasked him and won the money, beating Regina in the final quiz. {{notelist}}AssignmentsEpisode 1- Hagens told the candidates that he had questions for them. Every question the candidates got right, €250 would be added to the pot. Coen, Annette, and Regina got their questions right which put €750 into the pot.
- The candidates were separated into groups of five: the climbers and the bikers. Each climber chose one biker to be paired with. Every climber who reached the top of the mountain before their respective biker would put €1,000 into the pot. Georgina, Nicolette, and Dunya reached the top before their partners did, so €3,000 was put into the pot.
- Hagens had a stack of jokers. Jokers can turn wrong answers on the test into correct answers. One at a time, Hagens moved a joker from the stack to the center of the table, where at that time any of the candidates could take one. Then, Hagens told the candidates that if everyone anonymously hands in their jokers during the first test, then no one will be executed. If someone does not hand in their jokers, they will only be able to be used in episode two's test. Also, each joker that is handed in will cost €100 for the pot. At the execution, it was revealed that seven jokers were not handed in, therefore €1,000 was taken out of the pot.
Episode 2- Candidates took turns shooting at three rows of bottles. They can either shoot at "topitos"{{efn|name=Topitos|If you were able to collect eight "topitos" of all the same color or of all different colors, it would create a "topo" and you would win an exemption.}}, money, or names to knock someone out of the assignment In the first round, Annette hit three topitos and Coen hit four topitos. In the second round, Joris hit €1,050, Georgina hit four topitos, Coen hit €75, and Patrick hit €400. €1,525 was put into the pot.
- The candidates had to split into three teams with two people each and two individuals. The first team had to pick three names and, in a telephone-like manner, had to give the final individual the same names. When the final individual, Joris, presented the wrong people, no money was put into the pot.
- Hagen announced the candidates were only allowed to take 100 kg (220 lbs) of luggage back with them to camp. The last person to weigh their bag could win a lot of money for the pot. Every kilogram that the last person has in their bag adds €100 to the pot, but if it exceeds 100 kg then all the money from the assignment will be lost. Before the last bag, the whole lot of luggage weighed 81 kg. Coen was chosen to have the last bag. His bag weighed 23 kg, exceeding the limit by 4 kg, and effectively losing all the money that could've potentially been earned during the assignment.
Episode 3- On a table, there were upside down bowls. Some hid topitos{{efn|name=Topitos}} and some hid nothing. In the end, everyone received at least one topito.
- Candidates received two words, one to put on their chest and the other to put on their back. They then had to go out into the street and find each other to form a sentence. They would receive €250 per word. They were able to get €2,250.
- The candidates were brought to a field literred with chasers. The first group of three will have to create safe spaces by raising a flag. The second group will then cut down the flagpoles and bring them back, each representing money with a specific multiplier attached. Two individuals will be on a tower and will guide the candidates away from the chasers. If they are tagged by a chaser, then they are out. €500 was won for the pot.
Episode 4- In a certain hotel room, there were a thousand pictures on the walls. Certain pictures held a part of a bigger picture which will reveal the code to open the safe. Inside the case lay €2,500. The candidates did not succeed and did not get any money.
- Candidates went around looking for tasks to defuse a bomb. For every bomb defused, they will earn topitos{{efn|name=Topitos}} and money. If a bomb happens to explode, they will be out of the assignment. €2,100 was put into the pot. In addition, Dennis, Patrick, and Regina each received at least one topito.
- Hagen will ask each candidate a question about the game so far. Each correct candidate will ask the mole a yes or no question in front of two candles. Anonymously, the mole will answer by either extinguishing the candle on the left, which means "yes", or by extinguishing the candle on the right, which means "no". No money was earned in this assignment.
Episode 5- The candidates received one envelope each, and inside was a card with a question on one side and an answer on the back. They had to match their question with someone else's correct answer while on a roller coaster. They could not open the envelopes until they reached a red sign, and had to immediately stop all conversation when the roller coaster came to a complete stop. Everyone who got it right was able to know how to pass the next assignment. Only Joris got his question right.
The candidates again received envelopes, but this time there were numbers inside. Joris told the other candidates all they needed to do was add up all the numbers, again, while on the roller coaster. Joris got the number 1,815, which was wrong. - They were dropped off at the fanciest, most expensive hotel in Mexico. There each candidate had to anonymously decide whether they wanted to take money out of the pot to spend the night at the luxurious hotel for €1,000 and/or buy themselves an exemption for €1,000. Regina bought the exemption, and therefore the offer was not asked to the remaining candidates.
- Regina was moved to a secret location. If the candidates were able to find Regina within half an hour, she would lose her exemption. The candidates were split into three groups of two and Joris. Everyone received $500 and phones to contact each other with, but no one knew what anybody's phone numbers were. It was the groups' job to relay their phone numbers to Joris who was standing on top of a tower in the middle of the city. Joris, knowing Regina's current location and address, had to give the groups her location when they were able to make contact. Dennis and Edo were able to make contact with Joris and found Regina just a few minutes before time was up. €2,500 was put into the pot.
The candidates were given the option to use the exemption on one person they chose, but it would again cost €1,000. They collectively decided to use the exemption on Joris. Since Joris got the red screen, no one went home.
Episode 6- The candidates were split into two groups: the gamblers (Dennis and Patrick) and the players (Dunya, Edo, Joris, and Regina). After they arrived at the Chinampa of Xochimilco, the players were given $200 and were told to turn that into $1,000 in two hours. The gamblers had to make an inital bet based on their certainty in the players. After every half hour, they could choose to stay at their current bet or double it. After making the inital bet of €500, they doubled it twice and stayed the third time, ending with the final bet of €2,000. After it was revealed that they earned $1,010, €2,000 was added to the pot.
- Everyone received a phone, but only Patrick and Regina got everyone's phone numbers. Four individual candidates got into taxis with a letter on top of it and headed to Zócalo where Patrick and Regina were waiting. Their task was to organize the others' cars so that they pass the traffic light at the same time, clearly spelling the word "TAXI". They only had an hour to complete the assignment. After successfully spelling the word, they received €2,500.
- Before the assignment began, they had to pick between Envelope 1 and 2. Edo picked Envelope 1 and revealed it to say, "Every candidate that does not reach the end of this assignment costs €250 from the pot." Pieter Jan revealed that the other envelope said, "Every candidate that does make it to the end, earns €500 for the pot." The assignment was to go one by one and say each assignment in sequential order. Everyone failed and €1,500 was deducted from the pot. They then received the chance to do it again, almost like déjà vu. After picking Envelope 2 this time, it read the same thing as Envelope 1 the first time. After everyone failed again, a total of €3,000 was deducted from the pot.

- Dennis and Dunya flew to Playa del Carmen and had to put €1,500 inside a piñata. They then had to arrange the various piñatas so that the one with money inside of it would stand out among the others. Meanwhile, Edo, Patrick, and Regina had to drive to Playa del Carmen based on a cryptic GPS route. If they made it, they would receive €2,500, but for every wrong turn or mistake, they would lose €250. When they arrived at the piñatas with €2,000, they were informed they could only open one piñata. They smashed open the wrong one and only received €2,000.
- With Edo and Dennis is a group and Dunya and Patrick in another, they went into the swamp in speedboats and looked for tags on branches. The tags displayed specific money amounts with different colors. Regina then went up in a helicopter and told the others where certain colored chests were. When the group(s) arrived, they had to match the color of the chest to the money amount, which was connected with a key, then use that key to open the chest. They had half an hour to get as much money as they could before time ran up. They acquired €1,250 before the time ran up, and it was added to the pot.
Episode 8- Each candidate got a map of a floor on the boat with red dots indicating a place where money is hidden. Candidates cannot take the money on their own map, and must communicate with each other to get to other people's money spots. If two candidates see each other at any time during the hour, then they are both out of the assignment and the money they collected is gone. Regina and Patrick got out almost right away, but Dennis and Edo were able to find €500 out of a possible €2,400. €500 was added to the pot.
- Pieter Jan left a box open for fifteen minutes so the candidates could "build their own time mechanism". The candidates were given two bottles and a knife. The goal was to stop the clock inside the box at midnight, and Pieter Jan gave them a margin of two minutes before and after. They would win €3,000 if they were able to do it. They were told the time was 3 hours and 45 minutes to midnight (8:15 P.M.). When they were finished, they turned the clock off. In the morning, Pieter Jan announced the clock was stopped at 1:07 A.M.
- The candidates split themselves into two teams: Edo and Patrick in one team and Dennis and Regina in the other.
- While driving to a field, Pieter Jan showed them a map that they needed to copy in order to complete the assignment. Pieter Jan handed the groups two decks of cards with two different cards missing in each. The candidates had to find their cards in a cave full of water. The map would be able to help them but would disintegrate in the water over time. Whichever team was able to find both of their missing cards before the other group would be in the race for an exemption. Dennis and Regina found their cards first.
- The two teams then had to play poker against each other. If Dennis or Regina won, they would keep the exemption. If Edo or Patrick won, the exemption would be gone and they would win €3,000 for the pot. Edo won the poker game and €3,000 for the pot.
Episode 9- Pieter Jan showed the candidates characteristics and they decided who that most closely describes. After choosing their characteristics, Pieter Jan assigned them objects: Dennis got the chest, Regina got the crane, and Edo got the shovel. Regina had to get in a crane and transport sand to Edo through a large machine. Then, Edo had to look for gold hidden in the sand. Dennis had to stay in a chest in the ground and could end the assignment whenever he wanted. When Dennis ended the assignment, Edo had only found three gold bricks and earned €1,500 for the pot, €500 for each gold brick.
- After a session of learning the Maya language and an explanation of how to Maya calendar works, candidates had to make the calendar show the birthday of who they thought was the mole. After they had the birthday put into the calendar, they went to ask one question about the mole to someone who only talks in the Maya language. If the birthday was right, he would give them a true answer to their question. If the birthday was wrong, he would give a false answer. This was the last time they could learn information about the mole.
