Witney Radio is a local radio station based in Witney, Oxfordshire, England which broadcasts to the surrounding area of West Oxfordshire. The station is licensed by OFCOM on 99.9FM in Witney and also operates online at www.witneyradio.co.uk HistoryWitney Radio launched as an online station on the 28th September 2012. After 3 years an application to become an OFCOM licensed station was completed and after delays due to overwhelming demand, Witney Radio was granted a license in September 2016. After completing new studios in Witney, FM test broadcasts began in June 2017 and finally after 5 years, FM broadcasts began in July 2017 when the station launched full time. FormatWitney Radio's weekday shows begin with The Bigger Breakfast which starts at 7am. This is followed by a Witney Radio Wonder Year which is 30 minutes of music from one year with listeners guessing what the year is. During the day, Witney Radio 99.9FM plays a cross section of mainstream music with local news produced by the station, events, traffic and travel and other items relevant to the local community of West Oxfordshire. The evenings and weekends on the station are specialist shows which cover a wide range of musical genres. |
