释义 |
WITT (Whatever Input to Torsion Transfer) is a device capable generating electricity from random or chaotic movement. It is the first device capable of generating electricity from all six degrees of freedom. DesignA WITT uses two pendulums connected to a flywheel to generate electricity. Movement causes the pendulums to swing, and they are attached to a shaft that then turns a flywheel in one direction. The pendulums are also allowed to rotate and be vertically displaced, the resulting movement also drives the flywheel. The flywheel in turn is connected to a generator, which produces electricity.[1] The unit harvests chaotic motion, fast, slow or erratic, turning it into useable power. It is the first device capable of harvesting energy from all six directions of movement.[2] The mechanism captures energy that would otherwise be wasted in a system or which is naturally present and unharvested, for example the vertical displacement of buoys, ships etc., and is therefore a carbon-free source of electricity. The device was developed by Martin Wickett, a senior civil engineer and his wife Mairi.[3] It is protected by patent.[4] UsesThe device is currently under development for use in marine environments, on ships and buoys for example (which are often subject to constant displacement by turbulent water). A smaller device is also under development for use in backpacks for charging personal devices, on bicycles for powering lights and for military communications in remote locations. Awards and receptionThe technology had already won three Innovate UK awards, as well as winning $100,000 from the Ocean Exchange.[5] The company developing the device is reported to have raised $3.36 million following a crowdfunding campaign.[6]{{AFC submission|t||ts=20190220223501|u=Ajsb95|ns=118|demo=}} References1. ^{{Cite web|url=https://www.engineering.com/ElectronicsDesign/ElectronicsDesignArticles/ArticleID/6885/Turning-Whatever-into-Electricity.aspx|title=Turning|website=www.engineering.com|language=en-US|access-date=2019-02-20}} {{AFC submission|||ts=20190220223645|u=Ajsb95|ns=118}}2. ^{{Cite web|url=https://www.forbes.com/sites/suparnadutt/2018/02/05/potential-not-wasted-5-clean-tech-innovations-of-the-future/|title=Potential Not Wasted: 5 Clean Tech Innovations Of The Future|last=D'Cunha|first=Suparna Dutt|website=Forbes|language=en|access-date=2019-02-20}} 3. ^{{Cite web|url=https://plymouthsciencepark.com/witt-energy-celebrate/|title=WITT Energy celebrate being featured in the #GREATforImagination Campaign|last=Roberts|first=Michelle|date=2017-08-15|website=Plymouth Science Park|language=en-GB|access-date=2019-02-20}} 4. ^{{Cite web|url=https://www.idtechex.com/energy-harvesting-europe-18/show/de/speakers/11703/six-degrees-of-motion-energy-harvester|title=Sprecher {{!}} Six Degrees Of Motion Energy Harvester {{!}} IDTechEx Show!|website=IDTechEx|access-date=2019-02-20}} 5. ^{{Cite web|url=https://www.forbes.com/sites/suparnadutt/2018/02/05/potential-not-wasted-5-clean-tech-innovations-of-the-future/|title=Potential Not Wasted: 5 Clean Tech Innovations Of The Future|last=D'Cunha|first=Suparna Dutt|website=Forbes|language=en|access-date=2019-02-20}} 6. ^{{Cite web|url=https://www.forbes.com/sites/suparnadutt/2018/02/05/potential-not-wasted-5-clean-tech-innovations-of-the-future/|title=Potential Not Wasted: 5 Clean Tech Innovations Of The Future|last=D'Cunha|first=Suparna Dutt|website=Forbes|language=en|access-date=2019-02-20}} |
