}}Ali Humam Asad (born May 2, 1998), known as his stage name Wolfseth (/wʊlfseɪt/; often stylized as W O L F S E T H) is a Maldivian rapper, songwriter and a record producer. He began gaining recognition after collaborations with Beatology Studios andreleasing several independent projects such as Confirmed, Rampage, Show off and Semptember 2018 Freestyle Series.

Life and career

1998–2007: Early life and struggles

Ali Humam Asad was born in May 2, 1998 in Male', Maldives. The third child of Aminath Samiya and well-known politician in Maldives, Ahmed Asad. According to the song like The Mirror Theory, he was bullied and abused as a child and has attempted suicide several times when he was 5 years old. Nonetheless he was an A grade student in school.[1]

Ever since he was a kid, he has been interested in human minds and how they work, curious about every thing and seeking the answer to 'Why?' every time he observed anything. Analysing and studying every human reaction to everything with the tiniest detail, helping him read people better and calculate their possible responses to specific situations, in other words he would fill himself in someones shoes to find out their next move.[2]

Growing up, he was genuinely a nice and loving person who liked being himself which made him an easier target for bullies. In The Mirror Theory he portrays how being bullied triggered him to be a bully as title of the song explains itself, 'The Mirror Theory'.[3]

2008–2012: Interest in Hip hop music and discovery

In 4th grade Wolfseth won some awards for his poetry but it was until 2011 that he became passionate about hip hop. One of the first songs he ever heard was P.I.M.P. by 50 Cent. It was until he found Bad Meets Evil that he discovered wordplay and complicated rhyming that you see in his raps today.[1][4] Humam grew up listening to Eminem, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, Kanye West and many more mainstream artists and the underground artists as well. [5]Hip hop music and drugs were the only escape from the chaos and the only way he was stable according to some of his freestyles.[6] He was so deep inside the world that he looked as dressed like a typical rapper at the time even though he was mocked for it, now a days people dress the same way in Maldives and calls it aesthetic, even the people who mocked him before.

One day, in 2013, Wolfseth decided to go buy some weed with his friends and was rapping to himself as one of the strangers saw him rapping and screamed to a friend of his saying "eyh! meedhee rap kuraa golaeh" (which means heres a rapper in Dhivehi) the stranger asked Wolfseth to come with him and as he went there was a Blueberry Waters artist there ready to practice for his battle with Tro which was happening in a few days. So Humam and him battled. After the battle the artist asked him to join his group but it never happened and they didnt declare any winners at the time but later on a TBH on Facebook the artist said that Wolfseth won but Wolfseth doesn't fully agree with it as his stuttered at a point. Wolfseth went to battle the artist was practicing for and thats how he got into the Maldivian rap game.

2013–2015: Drug abuse and social standing

In his teenage years, he was exposed to a lot of drugs and violence as a kid living in Malé where there isn't much exciting going on but the crime. From 2012-2014 was a time period where Wolfseth explored almost every drug available in the city such as L.S.D, Weed, MDMA ..etc . As you can witness in some of the songs like Enchant '14 and Confirmed.[7][8]

Around 2014, he was one of the most controversial people in Maldives, making the most outrageous statements and mentally destroy anyone who got in his way, as he said he trapped people in their own thoughts to either accept what he is saying or don't speak at all. As he was good in reading people and calculating their responses he would make you say what he wants you to say, he was a phenomenon. People hated him but some also followed his ways.[9]

People started calling him 'the rude boy' which stuck with him. Since he has been bullied by people before in his life and he survived it by himself, he believes that others can too. He started abusing empathy in a way to manipulate others in a charming way and changing the view upon social media in Maldives. It was like building puzzles for the public through speech and when they finish the puzzle, they always lose. It might seem pretty evil but in 2018, after 4 years, it seems like everyones doing it.[3][10]

2016–2017: Early career, Beatology Studios and Show Off Freestyle Series

Wolfseth wasn't the first name for Ali Humam Asad, he went as Civilized Wolf. We first saw the name as his Instagram name which later went on to become his stage name when he joined Beatology Studios in late 2015. The first time Wolfseth, then known as Civilized Wolf was seen rapping was through Beatology Studios in their 9th freestyle in their Freestyle Series Vol 1, then again in their 11th freestyle with Vihadhoo, people criticised him for not pronouncing properly or just being too quick for them to catch up in both freestyles. He tried to come back but it just didnt happen and he left the studios.

He almost overdosed and died in 2016 when did an excessive amount of Meth, you can see him dropping hints here and there such as "Hypnosis Joseph overdose this nervous moses on the surface with the forces under your noses, that makes him nauseous."[11]

He was a being fan of equality but unlike other he knows everyone is just as bad as others and if you don't accept it, you cant improve it. He believes that everyone bullying him for being a bully is just people being hypocrites like most of the people in his society.[12]

2018–present: September 2018 Freestyle Series, rap genius and singles

September 2018 Freestyles where his comeback, as he said in one of the freestyles "I always gotta comeback like herpes and phobias".[13] In Cold Win Blows Freestyle he explains how he was mixing his sound and mixing for almost an year since was criticized for it. [14] Freestyles like Gucci Gang explains why it caused him to be so much more aggressive and violent with him raps over the time[15].[11] He was very concerned about the rap industry not earning enough money for the work they put in at Maldives.[16]

He started dropping more names than before.[17][18]
