Wreck the System is an American nerdcore rap group from Washington, DC. Formed in 2016, the group currently consists of Twill Distilled (Alexandra Bellofatto), LadyJ (Jonae Townsend), Osiris Green (Bryan Green), and Cam3 (Charles McDougle III).[1][2] FormationIn 2015, high school friends Cam3 and LadyJ decided to open a recording studio out of their apartment. They decided to create a nerdcore specific project called “Tokens” to bring attention to the studio.[3] They created this EP with Mega Ran, Sky Blue, Twill Distilled, Osiris Green, and several other nerdcore musicians. Some of the artists involved performed a selection from "Tokens" at MAGFest in 2016. After the performance, the five core artists behind the project, Twill Distilled, LadyJ, Osiris Green, Cam3, and DJ Mutiny, decided to form Wreck the System. DJ Mutiny, however, left the group in early 2017 due to artistic differences. WreckFestIn 2017, the group began recording their first full album “WreckFest”.[4] It features several nerd core artists including Mega Ran and Seattle-based rapper Shubzilla.[5] The concept album "tells the story of up and downs of an anime convention-style weekend that is filled with truth, humor, and lots of fun"[6] by following a character named Ian as he attends his first con with each song focusing on a different aspect of "con life."[7] Though the album was released on January 4, 2018, the group released the album's first song and music video "Hotel Party" on October 12, 2017 on Youtube.[8] PerformancesWreck the System has performed at several conventions such as Gojotekicon and Blerdcon and popular nerdcore venues. In 2016, 2017, and 2018, they performed at MAGStock, MAGFest, and BitGen Gamer Fest alongside artists such as Mega Ran and Sammus. They have also performed at many smaller venues throughout the Eastern United States.
