The XU Exponential University of Applied Sciences (abbreviation: XU Exponential University) is a state-approved, private university based in Potsdam that focuses on Digital Business and Digital Marketing as well as Coding, Data Sciences and Industry 4.0. History

XU Exponential University has been state-accredited by the Ministry of Science, Research and Culture of the State of Brandenburg on December 18, 2018. The accreditation of all study programs has been conducted by the Zentrale Evaluations- und Akkreditierungsagentur (ZeVA), which certified to the XU Exponential University the development of sustainable and innovative study programs within the framework of the accreditation procedures. The XU Exponential University will start its operation in April 2019.^[2]

Since October 2018, Ernst Klett AG has accompanied XU Exponential University as a strategic investor through its subsidiary Klett Campus GmbH. With this cooperation, the Klett Group is supplementing its commitment in the education sector with a partner specializing in digitization. With the "XU Exponential University Friends Club" (abbreviation: XU Friends Club) a circle of experts, which are actively integrated into university life, advances the exchange between students, science, research and industry. Degree programs

All courses of studies at XU Exponential University deal with the key aspects and challenges of digitization. The range of study programs are specially designed to prepare students for the current and future requirements of the constantly changing world of work and learning.

Studying at XU Exponential University is possible either full-time or part-time (extra-occupational education) and is supplemented by additional digital learning units. At the start of study operations in April 2019, the university will offer two Bachelor programs^[7] and one Master program^[8]

The study programs comply with the Bologna Process valid throughout Europe and are accredited by the Zentrale Evaluations- und Akkreditierungsagentur (ZeVA).

Didactics and contents

The didactic concept of the XU Exponential University focuses on the applied university teaching of competencies that are indispensable in the context of digital transformation. Examples are amongst others User Experience (UX), Design Thinking, Coding and Software Development, Digital Marketing, Social Media Marketing, Data Science, Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain Technology, Internet of Things, Agile Methods.

The fields of application are very diverse in width and depth. They range from the latest social media and digital marketing instruments and technologies, platform business models and AI marketing to specific digital product and/or service models, IoT-based industrial solutions and much more.

The ongoing development of competence is supported by regular practical projects with leading decision-makers in the fields of digitization and technology from Europe, the USA and above all China. Through Digital Labs with representatives from the digital ecosystem, start-ups, medium-sized and large companies, the education of the students is additionally advanced and supported.

Small groups, an obligatory semester abroad (as part of the full-time Bachelor's program), an International Summer School (in the Master's and part-time Bachelor's programs) and the application of new digital methods and tools are standard at XU Exponential University, as is the provision of a solid and globally recognized basic education in business administration and social science.

Selection procedures, tuition fees and scholarships

Applicants must go through a multi-stage selection procedure for admission to XU Exponential University. Getting to know the student personally plays a special role, along with excellent English skills and the interest in the study subject. XU Exponential University charges tuition fees. However, a large number of scholarships are available to applicants. This underlines the university's position that the future of talented young people must not fail due to the lack of financing resources.^[9]

Research

XU Exponential University additionally concentrates on application-oriented research. The university's research concept was also positively evaluated and assessed within the framework of the accreditation procedures. The core elements of application-oriented research are Exponential Hubs. Thus, XU Exponential University creates over a limited period of time and in close cooperation with industry a format in which current and future-relevant topics are researched, directly applicable solutions are derived and developed as well as put into practice, marketed and scaled. Research topics of the Exponential Hubs include Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Marketing, retail tech, E-Health, data and music,E-Sports and entertainment, and IoT-based business models in various industries. The aim of the Exponential Hubs is to develop the most up-to-date technology developments worldwide, to create transparency about them, to test innovative solutions and to develop new prototypes.

Campus

The XU Exponential University is located in Potsdam-Babelsberg. University education takes place in Studio 5 on the grounds of the Babelsberg Film Studios and the Filmpark. In recent years, Potsdam has developed into a remarkable digital center with the HPI Hasso Plattner Institute, the University of Potsdam, the Film University Konrad Wolf and other (non-university) educational institutions. Less than 20 minutes by suburban railway connect Berlin's Mitte with the university campus, which also has 42 (out of a total of 200) furnished student apartments at its disposal.^[10]
