Although her music genres range from Hip Hop/Rap, R&B, Pop, and EDM, she has an affinity for West Coast and Bay Area "hyphy" sounds. YDP has gained popularity in the city of Richmond, where her debut EP Welcome to the Wild Wild West is displayed on a mural in Richmond at Unity Park.[2] Personal lifeIn July 2016, YDP was on her first tour with the Beat Cellar. YDP lost a sister from medical illness while she was on tour. In March of 2017 YDP was on her second nationwide month-long tour titled "Music Saved My life", where she lost her second sister Rashanda Porter-Franklin, who was shot and killed in front of her children by an ex-boyfriend while she was driving them to school.[3] YDP coming off that tour and took over the care of her sister's children while also helping take care of her sick mom and her sick aunt. I Am HumanDue to the deaths of her sisters, YDP started writing her EP "I AM Human" YDP enlisted the help of platinum producer Ken "K-Lou" Franklin [4] to record and engineer the whole Project while allowing the compositions of her cousins Davon Birden and Antonio Alvarado II to create all the beats for the EP on what you could call an family affair. With songs inspired by and closely worked on with her sisters children who had a hand in how the songs were written and organized in an order to their liking. The EP displays spoken words and tracks based on the feelings each person deals with when a death occurs YDP was quoted by The Richmond Standard on what she plans to convey Through her music. "The first few drafts of the song evoked different emotions from sadness, happiness, to anger," she said. "That is when I came up with the idea to make it an EP. When the listener goes through each track I want him/her to experience the emotions an individual can feel while going through the stages of grief and discover a way to still smile through a life altering situation like I did with losing my sister." YDP hopes to educate young women and young men to find out "when relationships are unhealthy for one or both individuals and how to deal with those feelings and leave the situation amicably".[5] DiscographyStudio EPs
