Commissioner of Police Zulkifli Abdullah (born 27 September 1960) is a Malaysian senior police officer, currently serving as the Director-General of National Anti-Drug Agency Malaysia[1][2][3]. He being selected for the role in August 2018 and taking office on 20 August 2018.[4][2][3]

Previously he was a Director of Internal Security and Public Order in Bukit Aman.[5][6][7]

Early life and educational background

  • Zulkifli was born on 27 December 1960 at Johor Bahru, the capital of the state of Johor, as the youngest of eight siblings.[8]
  • He started out his primary education at Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Tambatan, Johor Bahru.[8]
  • Then he continued his secondary education at one of the popular boarding school in Perak, Sekolah Tuanku Abdul Rahman (STAR), Ipoh.[8]
  • In 1977 he was offered to continue his studies to United Kingdom and obtained A-Level graduation from Cholchester Institute of Higher Education Essex, England.[8]
  • Attended a Visiting Fellowship at Wolfson College, University of Cambridge, United Kingdom[9][8]
  • He holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Mathematics from University College Cardiff, Wales in 1983[9][8]

Police career (PDRM)

  • In 1984, Zulkifli joined Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) as Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and went through basic cadet training at Pusat Latihan Polis (PULAPOL) Kuala Lumpur and at Maktab Polis Kuala Kubu Bharu.[8]
  • Started the career as an ASP under probation at Damansara Police Station.[8]
  • He was then posted in Kelantan as Deputy Officer in Charge of Police District (OCPD) Pasir Mas.[8]
  • Then he was transfered To (D8) Investigation Division / Planning, Criminal Investigation Department, Penang Police Contingent Headquarters.[8]
  • After serving for 8 years as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) he was promoted as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) on September 2, 1992. He was placed in the Commercial Crimes Investigation Division in Bukit Aman.[8]
  • 2 years in Bukit Aman, he was then promoted as Superintendent of Police (SUPT) with the post of Deputy Head of Criminal Investigation Department III - Commercial Crimes Investigation Division, Johor Police Contingent Headquarters.[8]
  • In Johor, he was again promoted as Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) as Deputy Head of Criminal Investigation Department I, Johor Criminal Investigation Division.[8]
  • On 15 March 2004, he was promoted as Deputy Director III (Finance) of the Logistics Department in Bukit Aman with the rank of Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police II (SAC II). This is an exposure to his new department for career development purposes.[8]

Chief Police Officer (CPO)

CPO of Kelantan
  • At the age of 44, on 28 August 2005, YDH Dato' Sri was appointed as Kelantan State Police Chief with the rank of Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police I (SAC I) and one of the youngest State Police Chiefs then.[10]
CPO of Perak
  • Subsequently, he was promoted to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in charge of the Perak State Contingent Police Chief on 16 July 2007.[8]
CPO of Kuala Lumpur
  • He was later entrusted with the leadership to lead the Kuala Lumpur Contingent as the State Police Chief for a short period of 6 months and was promoted to Grade Jusa B.[11]

Commissioner of Police (CP)

Director of Strategic Resources and Technology Department
  • Subsequently he was as Director of Logistics, Bukit Aman with the rank of Police Commissioner (CP). In this new department he started a transformation including the re-engineering of the department from the Logistics Department to the Strategic Resources and Technology (StaRT) Department, Bukit Aman.[12]
Director of Management Department
  • He was once given a great responsibility on 17 August 2015 as Director of the Management Department, Bukit Aman. Among his duties and responsibilities is to improve the quality of service delivery and organisational development and to determine the development of competitive human capital.[8]
Director of Internal Security and Public Order
  • On July 4, 2017, he was promoted to Jusa A (acting) as Director of the Internal Security and Public Order Department (KDNKA), Bukit Aman.[13]
