Eastmain is a Cree Nation of Quebec, Canada. Its members primarily live in the Cree village of Eastmain located on the shore of the James Bay in Northern Quebec and in the reserve lands that surround it. In 2016, it has a total registered population of 876 members.[1] It is governed by a band council and under the Grand Council of the Crees. LanguagesThe Cree people speaks the Cree language. According to Statistics Canada's 2011 Census, 86.4% of the members of the Eastmain First Nation have an indigenous language as first language. 90.3% speak an indigenous language at home and 92.2% know an indigenous language.
