She also published textbooks on genetics and general biology, and was professor and head of biology at Wilson College for over 30 years. Born in Boston, she earned a bachelor's degree at Mount Holyoke College (1912), went on to Columbia University where she received master's (1913) and doctoral degrees (1919).[1][2]
