He did portraits of dogs, horses and cattle, and he authored several books. Early lifeMegargee was born in 1883 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.[1][2] He attended Georgetown University, Drexel University, and the Art Students League of New York.[1][2] CareerMegargee was an animal painter.[1][2] He specialized in portraits of award-winning dogs and thoroughbred horses.[1][2] He also did paintings of cattle.[1] Megargee authored and illustrated books about dogs.[3] He was the chairman of the library committee and a judge for the American Kennel Club.[1] Personal life and deathMegargee was married twice. After he divorce Jean Inglee, he married Esther Kimball.[2] He had a son, Edwin I.
