Eglė Karpavičiūtė (born 1984) is a Lithuanian painter. BiographyKarpavičiūtė was born and raised in Raseiniai. 2003-2012 she studied painting in Vilnius Academy of Arts. Since 2007 she actively participates in group exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad as well as holds solo shows. She currently lives and creates in Vilnius, Lithuania.[1] WorkKarpavičiūtė often use famous art works, architectural objects and other cultural motives in her works. In this way she analyzes the universal understanding of art works, concept of originality and the status of the artist. Her paintings are not only about capturing and documenting the moments in specific time but also their interpretation. Among her generation, Karpaviciute is distinguished by thoughtful and philosophical attitude. By showing objects outside of their usual context and adding new meanings, the painter states the illusion, temporary and fragility of the visual reality, encourages to doubt the material form and rather explore the real meaning and nature of depicted moments.[2][3] Awards
