In 2019, Pérez was featured in Cultured Magazine's 30 Under 35 and in Forbes Magazine's 30 Under 30.[4][5] They are currently a Visiting Assistant Professor of Visual and Environmental Studies at Harvard University, a Critic at the Yale School of Art, and a Dean at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture.[6][5][7] Pérez is represented by [https://47canal.us/ 47 Canal] and currently lives and works in New York City.[10][8] Pérez's work will be featured in the upcoming 2019 Whitney Biennial.[9] Early life and educationPerez is of Puerto Rican descent and grew up in the Bronx.[1] In their early photographs, Perez photographed the Bronx punk community that they were a part of, creating an archive the people, places, that made up these peripheral, alternative, and genderqueer spaces. This work and their involvement in these communities continues to influence their work.[10] Pérez holds a BFA in Photography from Maryland Institute College of Art and an MFA in Photography from Yale School of Art.
