He tested positive for betamethasone, a substance that was banned in 2016. However, both the player and the club claimed Molina unknowingly consumed the substance in his recovery from a ligament rupture injury.[4][5] He served an eight-month ban after being allowed to play again in January 2018.[6] Six months later, Villa Dálmine of Primera B Nacional signed Molina.[1] Career statistics{{updated|12 September 2018}}.[1]
