Emily Bernard is an American author and Professor of English and Critical Race and Ethnic Studies at the University of Vermont.[1]

Early life and education

Bernard was born in Nashville, Tennessee. She earned her Bachelor of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from Yale University.[2]

Awards and Recognition

  • New York Times Notable Book of the Year (2001)[3] for (as editor) Remember Me to Harlem: The Letters of Langston Hughes and Carl Van Vechten[4]
  • New York Public Library as a Book for the Teen Age (2006) for Some of My Best Friends: Writers on Interracial Friendship[5]
