She was elected as the member for Dobell in the Australian House of Representatives in the 2016 election[1] after having been an unsuccessful candidate for the same seat in the 2013 election.[2] McBride was raised in Wyong, New South Wales. She holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Sydney and a graduate diploma in management from Flinders University.[3] Before entering parliament, McBride was chief pharmacist at Wyong Hospital, and served on the Wyong Shire Council. Her father is former New South Wales MP Grant McBride.[2] McBride's paternal grandfather was born in Northern Ireland.
